Memorable Words

Art Sign from cellardesigns
I first heard this quote years ago as I was beginning my journey of soul searching. It has come back to me from time to time and when I saw it today I was inspired to share.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

This patron's family recently lost their beloved dog. He gifted matching bracelets to his daughters in Citrine, the November birthstone, to commemorate the birth of their sweet family friend. What an honor to have such a meaningful event commemorated with these bracelets!

from hairbrainedschemes
Wow...Day #101! I remember embarking upon this Gratitude Journey and thinking "101 days...how will I do 101 days?", which was precisely the point! I really needed this 101 Days to help me recognize all of life's blessings that surround me on an average day...Or maybe the point was to realize that not a single day is AVERAGE!

Today I'm Grateful for Gratitude! I'm grateful that each day I have the opportunity to find the good, the beautiful, the inspiring that fill the world! I'm grateful that each day I can choose joy and say 'thank you'.

So this officially ends my 101 Days of Gratitude Journey. I'm pleased to continue to share daily gratitude on the Facebook group. If you want to join, everyone is welcome! Gratitude Beyond 101 Days on Facebook

101 Days of Gratitude - Day #100

8x10 Archival Gratitude Print
from LaurieCoyleDesigns
Today I'm grateful for my life! I'm grateful that I live a life filled with people who support and encourage me at every turn. I'm grateful for parents who raised me to work hard and always do my best. I'm grateful for my son and his sense of humor and relaxed personality. I'm grateful for friends who I share laughter and tears. I'm grateful for doing what I love for livelihood and for a warm, comfortable home.

Most of all, I'm grateful for Andy. The four years with you in my life have been the absolute best. Thank you for the laughter and perspective. Thank you for your patience, even when I don't necessarily deserve it. I never knew I possessed the capacity in my heart for this kind of love.

101 Days of Gratitude - Day #98

Today I'm grateful that I have a sweet man to take care of me when I'm sick. And I'm grateful (in advance) that this is just a 12 hour stomach bug.

101 Days of Gratitude - Day #97

Today I'm grateful for our electric blanket and my awesome boyfriend who always remembers to turn it on as we're getting ready for bed so it's properly warm. I love climbing into a toasty-warm bed...and have a hard time getting out on a lazy Sunday!

101 Days of Gratitude - Day #96

Word Jewelry
from foundling

I'm grateful for grace in this world. I'm grateful for those people who face adversity, regardless of the magnitude, with grace and compassion.

I strive to be one of those women who always looks for the good and embodies grace in all situations. I know a few of those ladies and sometimes find myself thinking, "what would so-and-so do/say in this situation?"

And when someone treats me in an ungracious way, I try to put myself in their shoes and feel compassion for where they are in their journey. Sometimes I realize they are simply responding with a survival instinct in the only way they can in the moment. Those people I'm compelled to try to help with understanding.

Other times I realize they are just big ol' jerks!

101 Days of Gratitude - Day #95

Today I'm grateful for my schedule opening perfectly to allow for a few custom orders. It always seems to happen that way! Just like it's meant to be! As my friend and mentor, Karyn Pettigrew always says, "Thank You, More Please"!

101 Days of Gratitude - Day #94

Today I'm grateful for Thursday. It tends to be my most creative and productive day of the week. Monday is absorbed by catching up and scheduling the week. And Friday...well, Friday is practically the weekend! Tuesday is meetings an conference calls. Wednesday is hump day and the panic of the week flying by sets in...and that leaves Thursday. The workhorse of the week. The one day where the most work is cranked out for the whole week. So, I better get to it!

101 Days of Gratitude - Day #93

Today I'm grateful for prompt paying clients. With my position on the food chain of pay cycles, invoices run 90 and 120 day out...imagine only getting paid every 3 or 4 months. It's glamorous to be a business owner! {sarcasm, in case you missed that} In the end, I'm the last to get paid. The lack of steady cash flow makes budgeting difficult and paying bills even more difficult. I'm truly grateful for those clients who commit to paying for my work and do it in a timely manner. They make the magical possible!

101 Days of Gratitude - Day #92

Today I'm grateful for people referring my services to others and helping me make connections. When someone refers my work to a colleague, it truly is the greatest form of flattery! I'm excited to meet with a new contractor today and learn more about his business and how we may be able to work together in the future.

101 Days of Gratitude - Day #91

Today I'm grateful for my amazing and talented boyfriend, Andy! I know I was grateful for him earlier in this journey but yesterday he earned a Gratitude-Take Two! He saw I needed help organizing my pantry and went to work designing and building can dispenser racks for my shelves...all to make my life easier. He's constantly thinking of ways to make things easier for me and the first words out of his mouth are always, "how can I help". I'm so lucky!

Paper Poppy Flowers

In honor of Veteran's Day and all the men and women who have sacrificed to defend the rights of all Americans guaranteed by the United States Constitution, some making the ultimate sacrifice, I give my gratitude. After such a contentious campaign and national election, it's more evident than ever that protecting the rights of every citizen is more important than ever. To those who have served, I humbly say 'Thank You'.

What People are Saying

I have the best clients and they graciously share their feedback and testimonials for the items they've purchased. I just have to share!

This piece was created for my client who is a sales representative. She wears really lovely tailored shirts and cardigan sweaters with an embroidered company logo on each garment. She needed a necklace to compliment her logo so she could wear it every day!
From her comments, I think it's a hit!

"Home Sweet Home" Custom State or Country
from mereleemade
Today I'm grateful for the geography I chose as home. Growing up in a rural setting we were a 30 minutes drive from conveniences and entertainment and an hour from the nearest mall. Now, I enjoy living in a place where I can look across the road to a wooded area and have multiple nature areas within walking distance yet have a choice of grocerie stores no more than 10 minutes away. There's even a series of historic downtowns to choose from along the Fox River for locally owned restaurants and shops. I love it!

Today I'm grateful to work from home. As the mornings are darker and the weather is cooler I'm so happy that I walk a few steps to my office. And when deadlines call for a late night, I don't have to drive to get home or worry about the next day. It's one of the Top 10 decisions I've made!

101 Days of Gratitude - Day #87

Recycled Floppy Disk Notebook
from WeAreBoundTogether
Today I'm grateful for email. It makes my work so much easier. When I first started working out of college, I remember having to save drawing files on floppy disks and send them overnight. That was the only way to convey information. Then we were able to use a modem that shared a telephone line with our fax machine and send files directly...but if someone interrupted the transmission by sending a fax, we had to start all over.

Now, we simply craft an email, attach a file and {zip} it's gone and arrives within seconds. And even then, I still find myself becoming impatient when something takes longer than usual to transmit. Hence my need for gratitude for how much more efficient work is with email.

Handmade Friendship Card

Today I'm grateful for my friends. Some are conservatives and some are liberals. Although they may not agree they are all good people. And isn't that one of the greatest things about a democracy...the opportunity to hear and explore differing opinions? I love them all!

Today I'm grateful that it's election day. I'm grateful to live in a country where the right to vote is extended to all genders, races and creeds. I'm grateful to have the freedom to speak my mind and give my opinion without fear of prosecution. And I'm grateful that as of 7:00 p.m. tonight, when the polls close, the political ads and commentary can STOP!!!

"VOTE" Plugs
from PlugClub
Today I'm grateful that tomorrow is election day and that this whole election season will finally come to a close!!! The negativity surrounding the elections isn't healthy or helpful. It's fantastic that everyone has the right to their opinion. It would be even more fantastic if everyone respected the fact that others have that same right. And what would make it better...if everyone realized that we're not all suppose to agree. And that name calling is unnecessary and embarrassing.

I just hope whoever wins realizes they work for the people...not the other way around.

Angle Gothic Delight Designer Bed
from woodlandwild
Today I'm grateful for waking up in a warm, comfy bed next to my sweetheart. It's something I completely take for granted. When I think of those who have lost everything, are kept apart from the loved ones or who don't have a bed to sleep in, I realize how truly blessed I am. And how '1st world' my problems really are.

Today I'm grateful for Halloween! It's so much fun to see the kids in costumes and for adults to be kids again, even if it's just for a day. It's the one day a year you can pretend to be anything you want...but I suppose you really can be anything you want on any given day!

For When She Wakes...
Quote Print from MiraDoson

Today I'm grateful for being able to sleep until I wake up...no alarm, just waking to my natural rhythm. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if we lived by life's rhythm instead of the man-made concept of time. I hypothesize that in the end, we would be more productive if left to the rhythms of nature. And for today, that's what I'm going to do!

Yes, it is technically Sunday since I'm publishing this post at 12:28 a.m.! And now to sleep and wake whenever my eyes open!

101 Days of Gratitude - Day #67

Upcycled Wall Lamp
from deadpancharm
Today I'm grateful for random acts of kindness. It's refreshing to witness or be the recipient of a random act. It can be as simple as a compliment from a stranger. Or maybe a helping hand when you need it most. The best part about one of these acts of kindness...both parties benefit! It feels so good to do something kind for someone else.

If you're looking for ideas of some random acts, check out GP Random Acts on Facebook. A few of my favorites from the GPRandom Acts wall...

  • Crash a Wedding Registry to celebrate your wedding anniversary
  • Hang Tab Tear Sign...you know those signs with the phone numbers you can tear off...
  • Purchase groceries for a deserving family the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
  • Lipstick Sniper...leave an inspiring message on a bathroom mirror

They currently have a Call to Kindness underway where you can post random acts of kindness you've done for someone else. There are some great ideas!! Check it out, 'like' GP Random Acts and share the kindness!

Today I'm grateful for this time of year when it's chilly enough at night for a comforter. I've always loved the feeling of being snuggled under a heavy heap of blankets.
